Chinese Volunteers Help Kenyan Youth

CultureChinese Volunteers Help Kenyan Youth

Chinese volunteers are helping Kenyan slum youth build their dreams by providing support and resources to help them improve their living conditions and access better education.

The volunteers, from the China-Africa Business Council, have been working with the Mombasa-based NGO, The Friends of Children Association (FOCA), to help children in the impoverished area of Likoni. The area is home to over 200,000 people, many of whom live in slums with limited access to basic services.

The Chinese volunteers have been working alongside local volunteers to provide food and educational materials, as well as engaging in community activities to help the children learn important life skills. They have also helped to build new classrooms and improve existing ones, providing a safe and conducive learning environment for the children.

The volunteers have also been teaching the children Chinese, providing them with an opportunity to learn a new language and broaden their horizons. The Chinese volunteers have found that this helps to build a bond between themselves and the children, and helps to break down cultural barriers.

The project has been a great success, with many of the children benefiting greatly from the support and resources provided by the volunteers. Many of the children have been able to improve their academic performance, and some have even gone on to attend college or university.

The project has also helped to build stronger ties between China and Kenya, with the Chinese volunteers gaining a greater understanding of the challenges faced by communities in Kenya. This has led to a greater appreciation of the need for international cooperation and support to help address these challenges.

The Chinese volunteers have expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to work with FOCA and the children in Likoni. They have said that the experience has been both rewarding and humbling, and that they have learned a great deal from the children and the local volunteers.

The project has shown that international cooperation and support can make a real difference in improving the lives of people living in poverty. It has also highlighted the important role that NGOs can play in providing vital services and support to vulnerable communities.

Overall, the project has been a great success, providing hope and opportunity to children in one of Kenya’s most impoverished areas, and building stronger ties between China and Kenya.
