Southwest China’s Sichuan Province is gearing up to host the 31st FISU World University Games, which is slated to take place in Chengdu, the capital city of the province. As the event draws near, the province has made significant efforts to ensure that the power supply for the major venues is generated by clean energy sources.

In line with its commitment to promoting sustainable development, the Sichuan government has made considerable investments in infrastructure construction. This includes the development of solar and wind power projects, which are expected to generate significant amounts of electricity to meet the needs of the games. These projects are part of a broader initiative to promote renewable energy and reduce the province’s reliance on fossil fuels.

The Chengdu Shuangliu International Airport, which is one of the major gateways to the province, has also been equipped with a solar power generation system. The system is expected to generate around 3 million kilowatt-hours of electricity per year, which will be used to power the airport’s operations. The airport is set to play a critical role in transporting athletes, officials, and visitors to and from the games.

The use of clean energy sources during the games is not only an environmentally responsible decision but also an economic one. It is estimated that the use of clean energy sources will reduce the overall cost of hosting the games, as traditional sources of energy can be expensive and volatile. Furthermore, the use of renewable energy sources will reduce the carbon footprint of the event, contributing to a cleaner and greener planet.

A total of 11 newly built and expanded power grids and supporting projects are now preparing to generate and supply electricity produced by clean energy, according to State Grid Sichuan Electric Power Company.
To facilitate green and low-carbon travel for the event, Sichuan has also launched a charging service network. A 200-square-meter photovoltaic charging station has been established in the downtown area of Longquanyi district in Chengdu, which is able to provide charging services for 46 electric vehicles simultaneously.

The use of renewable energy sources has become increasingly prevalent in recent years. In line with this trend, the organizers of the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games made a conscious effort to incorporate sustainable energy technologies into their infrastructure. One such technology is cadmium telluride solar panels.

Cadmium telluride solar panels are a type of photovoltaic panel that can absorb and convert sunlight into electricity. These panels are considered more efficient and cost-effective than traditional silicon-based solar panels. They are also less harmful to the environment as they require less energy to produce and generate less waste during their manufacturing process.

To maximize the benefits of this technology, the organizers of the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games installed cadmium telluride solar panels on the roofs of hotels for athletes. This not only provided a source of renewable energy for the games, but it also served as a practical way to showcase the potential of this technology to a global audience.

The use of cadmium telluride solar panels at the Beijing 2022 Olympic Winter Games has been widely lauded as a step towards more sustainable and environmentally conscious sports events. The success of this initiative has encouraged other major sporting events to follow suit and incorporate similar technologies into their infrastructure. This not only benefits the environment but also helps to promote renewable energy and sustainability to a wider audience.

Sichuan province is a significant contributor to clean energy production in China. As of the end of 2022, it had an installed clean energy capacity of over 100 million kilowatts, making it one of the largest clean energy bases in the country. This is a significant achievement, as clean energy is becoming increasingly important in the world’s fight against climate change.

Hydropower is a major contributor to Sichuan’s clean energy production. As of the end of 2022, the installed capacity of hydropower in the province was 97.5 million kilowatts, accounting for a significant portion of its clean energy production. This highlights the province’s focus on utilizing its abundant water resources to generate clean energy.

The installation of over 100 million kilowatts of clean energy capacity in Sichuan is a significant milestone in China’s push for clean energy. It is a demonstration of the country’s commitment to transitioning to a cleaner energy system and reducing its carbon footprint. This development also puts Sichuan in a position to contribute significantly to China’s goal of reaching carbon neutrality by 2060.

The success of Sichuan in developing clean energy capacity can be attributed to the government’s efforts to create a favorable environment for clean energy development. The province has implemented policies to promote the development of clean energy, such as offering subsidies and tax incentives. Additionally, the province’s rich natural resources have been harnessed to generate clean energy, especially its abundant water resources.
