Five New Coffee Spots to Visit This February

LifestyleFive New Coffee Spots to Visit This February

After a bustling start to the year with New Year and Lunar New Year celebrations, February offers the perfect opportunity to slow down with a quality cup of coffee. This month, several new cafés have opened, each with a unique atmosphere and menu.

Urban Coffee Roaster has taken over a prime location on Hollywood Road, near the Mid-Levels escalators. This home-grown brand, already established in Tsim Sha Tsui, Causeway Bay, and Tseung Kwan O, brings its signature coffee experience to Central. The café spans two levels and boasts a cocktail program alongside house-roasted coffee. A standout feature is its selection of Irish coffee cocktails, inspired by popular desserts such as Red Velvet and pandan cake. The Cointreau Disaronno latte blends orange and almond liqueurs with decaffeinated espresso and steamed milk for a rich, flavorful treat.

For a whimsical twist, How Coffee and Bread Department has teamed up with Hong Kong artist collective A For Art House to create a playful pop-up at Kai Tak Sports Park mall. Designed with dog lovers in mind, this pet-friendly space allows visitors to enjoy a light bite and coffee while spending time with their furry friends before exploring the newly developed sports district.

Moropain, a bakery from Fukuoka, is another exciting newcomer. Specializing in delicate, crispy-yet-fluffy melon pan, it also offers pastries such as kouign-amann and palmiers. The café’s rustic interior, featuring dark wooden tones, evokes a calming, pastoral atmosphere. A Hong Kong-exclusive tiramisu melon pan, filled with coffee-rich mascarpone cream, is a must-try for pastry lovers.

Sheer Coffee, a small yet inviting café on Peel Street, is the first venture from two local coffee enthusiasts, Mavis and Luke. Inspired by their travels, particularly to Japan, they have created a cozy space with a wabi-sabi aesthetic. The menu features thick-sliced Ogura toast with sweet red bean jam and whipped butter, hojicha walnut scones, savory tuna melts, and matcha and maple lattes.

Moma has transformed a spacious ground-floor venue on Staunton Street into a sleek Scandinavian-inspired restaurant and café. Currently in its soft-opening phase, it offers traditional Smørrebrød (open-faced sandwiches) and cardamom buns, accompanied by strong black coffee or a smooth flat white.

These new coffee destinations provide unique experiences, from artistic collaborations to international flavors, making February the perfect month to explore and indulge in a great cup of coffee.
