OpenAI, Oracle, Nvidia, and Cisco Launch Massive AI Infrastructure Project in UAE

BusinessOpenAI, Oracle, Nvidia, and Cisco Launch Massive AI Infrastructure Project in UAE

Technology leaders OpenAI, Oracle, Nvidia, and Cisco have announced a major partnership to develop a large-scale artificial intelligence hub in the United Arab Emirates, marking a significant milestone in global AI infrastructure expansion. The initiative, dubbed Stargate UAE, will be located in Abu Dhabi and is set to cover a sprawling 10-square-mile area with a total energy capacity of 5 gigawatts. The project is being developed in collaboration with Emirati technology firm G42, a company that has been at the forefront of AI initiatives in the region.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang emphasized the strategic importance of the development, describing AI as the most transformative force of the era. According to him, the Stargate project is designed to support the UAE’s ambitious national vision by providing the advanced computing infrastructure necessary to empower its population, drive economic growth, and position the country as a global AI leader.

As part of the agreement, OpenAI and Oracle will manage a 1-gigawatt compute cluster engineered by G42. Nvidia will supply the cutting-edge AI chips that will power the data center, while Cisco will handle the deployment of connectivity infrastructure to ensure seamless performance across the network. An initial 200-megawatt AI cluster is expected to come online in the coming year, serving as the foundation for more advanced AI systems and data-intensive applications.

OpenAI highlighted that this international partnership not only advances the UAE’s tech infrastructure but also strengthens global alliances in the responsible deployment of artificial intelligence. The organization sees the Stargate UAE project as a key component of its broader goal to create secure, ethical, and powerful AI systems in collaboration with global partners.

The Stargate UAE project stems from a broader multilateral initiative spearheaded by the Trump administration, which has placed a renewed emphasis on building next-generation AI infrastructure both domestically and internationally. The original initiative, announced in January, involved OpenAI, Oracle, and SoftBank, with an initial investment commitment of $100 billion and plans to invest another $500 billion over the following four years.

This UAE campus marks the first international expansion under that framework. OpenAI also previously revealed plans to evaluate potential data center sites across 16 U.S. states as part of its strategy to decentralize and scale its AI computing capabilities.

The launch of Stargate UAE reflects a new era in international cooperation on AI development, showcasing how cross-border alliances can fuel innovation and deliver technological breakthroughs. By combining their respective strengths—OpenAI’s leadership in AI research, Oracle’s robust cloud infrastructure, Nvidia’s processing power, and Cisco’s networking expertise—the companies aim to redefine what’s possible in global AI deployment.

As countries increasingly invest in artificial intelligence to drive economic transformation and national development, projects like Stargate UAE signal the growing importance of strategic partnerships in shaping the future of technology on a global scale.
