The nation is poised for continued growth and innovation as it embarks on its 15th Five-Year Plan, with a focus on high-quality development, deepening reforms, and enhancing national prosperity.

A Year of Solid Achievements and Future Ambitions

President Xi Jinping, in his New Year’s message, reflected on 2025 as a year of “indelible memories,” highlighting the commemoration of historical events and the establishment of “Taiwan Recovery Day.” He underscored the nation’s commitment to innovation, which has positioned China as a leader in innovation capabilities. The message also celebrated a “cultural renaissance,” with a growing appreciation for traditional Chinese culture and its global appeal.

Embracing the World and National Cohesion

China’s engagement with the global community was also a key theme, with the announcement of new Nationally Determined Contributions for climate change and the introduction of the Global Governance Initiative. President Xi reiterated China’s stance on the right side of history, advocating for world peace and development. Domestically, he emphasized national unity, particularly concerning Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, stating that reunification is an unstoppable trend.
