BusinessOneSpan Bolsters Mobile Security with Acquisition of Build38

OneSpan Inc. has officially completed its acquisition of Build38, a specialist in next-generation mobile application protection. This strategic move integrates Build38’s advanced mobile security technology, engineering expertise, and cloud-driven threat intelligence platform into OneSpan’s existing cybersecurity offerings, aiming to provide enhanced protection for mobile applications.

With Build38’s technology now part of OneSpan, customers will benefit from expanded App Shielding capabilities. This includes a more comprehensive and intelligence-driven approach to securing mobile applications. The integration offers continuous in-app protection, cloud-powered threat intelligence, and adaptive, AI-enabled defenses. This equips customers with deeper visibility into emerging risks, including AI-related threats, enabling more precise threat response and a future-ready foundation for securing mobile experiences.

Victor Limongelli, CEO of OneSpan, expressed enthusiasm about welcoming Build38, stating, “By adding Build38’s SDK-based security capabilities to enhance our App Shielding offering, including the integration of in-app, cloud, and AI-driven protections, we’re strengthening our ability to safeguard high-value mobile channels and help our customers stay ahead of rapidly evolving threats.” He further noted that the combination enhances OneSpan’s platform, accelerates its innovation roadmap, and positions the company to deliver next-generation mobile application security to global banks and other organizations.

Build38, founded in 2019 as a spin-off of Giesecke+Devrient, is recognized as a leading provider of mobile app security solutions. Its technology serves various industries, including mobile banking, payments, fintech, mobile ID, and crypto wallets. OneSpan, on the other hand, provides cybersecurity and digital agreements solutions, serving a significant portion of the world’s largest banks and processing millions of digital agreements and billions of secure authentication transactions annually.

OneSpan anticipates that the acquisition of Build38 will not materially affect its full-year 2026 financial guidance. The company projects its software and services revenue to be between $201 million and $204 million for 2026, with hardware sales contributing an additional $43 million to $45 million. Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) is expected to range from $192 million to $196 million, with adjusted EBITDA projected between $64 million and $68 million.
