BusinessQuantum Leap: QCi Acquires NuCrypt for $5M to Revolutionize Quantum Communications

Quantum Computing Inc. (QCi) has successfully acquired NuCrypt, LLC, a pioneer in quantum communications technology, for $5 million in a deal combining cash and company stock. This strategic acquisition aims to accelerate the commercialization of quantum communications and significantly expand QCi’s portfolio of quantum photonics and secure communication solutions.

Quantum Computing Inc., known for its innovative quantum optics and integrated photonics, has bolstered its capabilities by acquiring NuCrypt, a company with over two decades of experience in commercial quantum communications. This integration is expected to advance QCi’s technology roadmap, enhance its secure communications, and broaden its quantum photonics solutions. Dr. Yuping Huang, CEO of QCi, stated that NuCrypt’s platform and intellectual property, combined with QCi’s existing technologies, position the company to deliver scalable and commercially viable quantum communication solutions.

Founded in 2003, NuCrypt has been an early developer in the quantum communications space. Its technologies have been adopted by notable organizations such as NASA and the U.S. Army Research Laboratory, alongside major research universities and international clients across Australia, Canada, and Europe. NuCrypt’s patent portfolio covers quantum optics, RF-photonics, and photonic signal processing, significantly strengthening QCi’s intellectual property in secure communications and advanced computing.

NuCrypt will operate as a wholly owned subsidiary of QCi. The integration of QCi’s thin-film lithium niobate (TFLN) technology is anticipated to improve NuCrypt’s product portfolio by reducing device size, enhancing robustness and performance, and paving the way for scalable, high-volume manufacturing. Both companies are set to exhibit their combined advancements at the OFC Conference and Exhibition in Los Angeles from March 17-19, 2026, where NuCrypt will join QCi at booth #5105.

Quantum Computing Inc. is an innovative company focused on quantum optics and integrated photonics. It provides accessible quantum machines and foundry services for producing photonic chips. QCi’s products are designed for room-temperature operation, low power consumption, and affordability, with applications in high-performance computing, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and remote sensing. The company also recently acquired Luminar Semiconductor, Inc., further expanding its photonics and optics capabilities.
