BusinessWhirlpool Invests $60 Million in Perrysburg, Ohio, Creating Up to 150 New Jobs

Whirlpool Corporation is set to significantly expand its manufacturing footprint in Ohio with a $60 million investment in a new Perrysburg facility. This strategic move is expected to create between 100 and 150 new jobs over the next two years, bolstering the company’s domestic production capabilities and supporting its existing operations in the state.

The appliance giant announced its plan to invest over $60 million to establish a new production facility in Perrysburg. This initiative involves transforming a former solar panel manufacturing building into a state-of-the-art factory. The site will focus on producing appliance components and subassemblies for washers and dryers, directly supporting Whirlpool’s other manufacturing plants across Ohio.

This new Perrysburg facility will integrate advanced manufacturing technologies and automation, aiming to enhance efficiency and production capacity. The project is projected to generate between 100 and 150 new jobs within the next two years, signaling a strong commitment to domestic job growth. This expansion is part of Whirlpool’s broader strategy to increase U.S.-based production and reduce reliance on overseas manufacturing.

The Perrysburg location will become Whirlpool’s eleventh U.S. manufacturing facility and its sixth within Ohio. Company leadership, including Chairman and CEO Marc Bitzer, has emphasized the company’s dedication to U.S. manufacturing. The announcement was attended by U.S. Trade Ambassador Jamieson Greer, highlighting the federal government’s focus on strengthening domestic supply chains and manufacturing sectors. Whirlpool has a history of significant investment in U.S. production, with a substantial portion of its major appliances sold in the U.S. being manufactured domestically.

The new facility will serve as a crucial hub, supplying components to nearby Whirlpool plants, including those in Findlay and Marion. This strategic placement is expected to streamline operations and improve overall efficiency. The investment follows previous significant capital expenditures by Whirlpool in Ohio, including a $300 million investment announced in 2025 for its laundry operations, which aimed to add new production lines and create hundreds of jobs.

Whirlpool anticipates a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new Perrysburg site later this year. The project’s finalization is contingent upon the approval of state incentives, including support from JobsOhio and a tax credit from the state. This development underscores Whirlpool’s ongoing commitment to investing in American manufacturing and contributing to the economic vitality of Ohio.
