BusinessChina to bring new opportunities to global enterprises, including French companies

China’s Commerce Minister, Wang Wentao, has said that high-level opening-up will be unwaveringly promoted as a State policy to deepen cooperation in global industrial and supply chains. During a meeting with Guillaume Faury, CEO of Airbus, Wang emphasized China’s willingness to create a favorable business climate for foreign enterprises to develop in the country. The two discussed issues regarding Airbus’ investment projects and future development in China.

In a separate meeting with senior French corporate executives accompanying French President Emmanuel Macron on his visit to China, Wang encouraged French enterprises to oppose “decoupling and breaking chains” and take a long-run view to continuously expand investment in China. The minister stressed that China’s path to modernization will bring new opportunities to enterprises from all over the world, including French enterprises.

Wang further said that China is willing to work with the European side to create a fairer, more transparent, and more predictable business environment for two-way investment between China and the European Union. The executives involved in the meeting included those from BNP Paribas, Schneider Electric, and Michelin Group. Wang also exchanged views with the executives on issues such as expanding China’s imports of high-quality products from France, facilitating flows between the two countries, strengthening bilateral cultural exchanges, and aligning product standards between China and the EU.
