Taiwanese Singer Miusa Finds New Opportunities on the Mainland

CultureTaiwanese Singer Miusa Finds New Opportunities on the Mainland

Miusa, a vibrant young singer hailing from Taiwan, has recently begun to write a new chapter of her music career on the Chinese mainland. She considers this move as a series of transformative ‘firsts’: her inaugural visit to the mainland, her debut performance on a large-scale music festival, and her exciting venture into rap. This promising path promises a bright future for the youthful songstress.

“I aspire to perform in various mainland cities, forge new friendships, immerse myself in local cultures, and bring my music to the people,” the 25-year-old Miusa disclosed to Global Times. “I would also love to introduce some of Taiwan’s delightful cuisine and converse about the island’s magnificent landscape to foster a sense of kinship with those I meet.”

Miusa first captivated audiences on the second episode of Mango TV show “Qingnian Jihua” (Youth Plan), where she demonstrated her exceptional vocal range. The show brings together emerging talents from around the globe, including stars from both sides of the Taiwan Strait, fostering a new wave of music influencers.

The Chinese mainland represents an incredibly fertile ground for fresh talents in the music industry, offering a larger platform for young artists to innovate and develop distinctive musical styles. Shows like “Qingnian Jihua” epitomize the mainland’s cultural inclusivity and openness, granting musicians from diverse backgrounds a stage to hone and showcase their skills.

Increasingly, artists from Taiwan are finding their way to the mainland, lured by the prospect of performing to a larger audience. Veterans and rising stars alike have found success on the mainland through appearances in shows like “Infinity and Beyond” and “Sisters Riding The Winds And Breaking The Waves.”

By participating in various mainland programs, Taiwanese pop icon Angela Zhang has shown her dedication to being a cultural bridge across the Strait, contributing to the expanding global influence of Mandopop. “Chinese culture has endured for over 5,000 years, and it is essential to continue its legacy. These are our roots,” Zhang commented.

Ara Kimbo, another singer from Taiwan, cherishes his cross-Strait collaboration with mainland singer Ma Jiaqi on the show “Devotion of Infinity and Beyond.” He expressed, “With the cultural exchanges between singers across the Strait, the show stimulates the emotional resonance of people on both sides, conveys the values of shared cultural roots, and strengthens blood ties.”

As cross-Strait cultural exchange continues to flourish, music serves as a powerful bridge connecting people, fostering emotional resonance, and promoting shared cultural roots. For the Gen Z audience, these musical collaborations provide a shared memory around which to form tight-knit communities, further solidifying the bond between the Chinese mainland and Taiwan.
