In an event dedicated to deepening bilateral economic ties, the Investment Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey recently hosted a reception at the Turkish Embassy in Beijing. This occasion was part of their “Turkish Century Investment Reception” series, a concerted effort aimed at enhancing investment cooperation with China.

The event saw a significant turnout, with over 500 business executives and investors from China’s premier companies participating, reflecting the importance of the growing economic relationship between the two nations. The reception served as a forum for fruitful dialogue, fostering a deeper understanding of Turkey’s dynamic economy and its potential for mutual growth.

Among those in attendance were key figures who are shaping the economic future of the two countries. These included the Turkish Ambassador to China, Ismail Hakkı Musa, the President of the Investment Office of the Presidency of the Republic of Turkey, Ahmet Burak Daglioglu, and the Silk Road Fund Chairwoman, Zhu Jun.

In his address, Ambassador Musa highlighted several significant milestones. “This year, we are celebrating the 500th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the 100th anniversary of the founding of Turkey and the celebration of the 52nd anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkey and China,” he noted. Musa went on to enumerate the sectors where Turkey and China have formed new partnerships, including e-commerce, telecommunications, renewable energy, electric vehicles, cloud technology, and the defense industry.

Adding to the ambassador’s remarks, Daglioglu outlined the long-standing and special ties of friendship shared between Turkey and China. He noted how, under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI), Turkey has seen an influx of Chinese companies in various sectors such as finance, manufacturing, energy, electronics, and infrastructure. This trend reflects the increased confidence of Chinese businesses in the economic climate and opportunities offered by Turkey.

Guests at the reception were also treated to an array of delectable Turkish cuisine. The culinary experience, coupled with the insightful discussions on cooperation and investment opportunities, made the reception an enjoyable and productive evening for all participants.
