The Belgian Residence in China recently witnessed a grand celebration of King’s Day, a significant event as it was the first such celebration since Ambassador Bruno Angelet commenced his tenure in China. This event commemorated the 10-year reign of King Phillip and showcased the vibrant cultural and diplomatic relations between Belgium and China.

In attendance were distinguished guests, including high-level Chinese officials, representatives from various Belgian and Chinese companies, Belgians, and friends of Belgium. The event was graced by the presence of Deng Li, Vice Minister of China’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Prior to the celebration, Ambassador Angelet and Deng Li engaged in a meaningful discussion focused on enhancing the bilateral ties between the two countries.

Ambassador Angelet’s speech during the reception highlighted the significance of the occasion. The event also featured a special moment where Deng Li, along with Jorge Toledo, the EU delegation’s Ambassador to China, joined Ambassador Angelet on stage for the national anthems and a toast honoring King Phillip.

The celebration was further enlivened by the performances of the LDTX Beijing Dance Group. Their captivating dance acts enthralled the audience, spreading across the residence, into the patio of the new embassy building, providing guests an opportunity to appreciate the magnificence of the new premises.

The culinary aspect of the event was a highlight, treating over three hundred attendees to a taste of Belgium. The menu featured classic Belgian delights such as crispy fries, a selection of fine beers, delicious waffles, and warm hot chocolate. These delicacies were complemented by the authentic Belgian catering from Morel’s, adding to the festive atmosphere.

Moreover, the event was enlivened by the music and videos from the renowned Tomorrowland festival, reflecting the lively cultural essence of Belgium. The King’s Day celebration at the Belgian Embassy not only marked an important national day but also served as a bridge for cultural exchange, strengthening the ties between Belgium and China.

The event demonstrated the importance of diplomatic relations in fostering mutual understanding and cultural appreciation. It underscored Belgium’s commitment to maintaining strong connections with China, highlighting the shared values and interests that unite these two nations. Through such celebrations, Belgium continues to enhance its presence and influence in the international community, fostering goodwill and cooperation.
