Kazakhstan’s Republic Day was celebrated with great fanfare in Beijing, where over 600 distinguished guests, including foreign diplomats, business leaders, and major Chinese media representatives, gathered to commemorate the occasion. The event, marking a significant day in Kazakhstan’s history, saw the participation of at least 50 foreign ambassadors to China, underlining its international significance.
The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to China, Shakhrat Nuryshev, addressed the attendees, reflecting on Kazakhstan’s journey since gaining independence. He highlighted the nation’s commitment to complex political and economic reforms aimed at fostering a just and equitable society. Emphasizing the principle of “We are different, but equal,” Ambassador Nuryshev outlined Kazakhstan’s efforts to provide equal opportunities for its citizens, enhance civil society’s role, and ensure that the voices of the people are heard.
A key focus of his address was the robust and productive relationship between Kazakhstan and China. This partnership, particularly in cultural and humanitarian spheres, has seen significant developments, including the agreement to open mutual cultural centers and the announcement of the upcoming “Tourism Year of Kazakhstan” in China in 2024.
Ambassador Nuryshev also shed light on the international collaboration between the two countries, achieved through various platforms such as the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the Certified International Investment Analyst framework, and the “Central Asia-China” mechanism. Notably, Kazakhstan took up the SCO chairmanship for the 2023-2024 period in July, marking its fourth time at the helm of this influential organization.
The event also celebrated the deepening people-to-people connections between China and Kazakhstan. The ambassador proudly stated that bilateral relations have evolved into an “eternal comprehensive strategic partnership,” highlighting the enduring and multifaceted nature of the collaboration.
A memorable highlight of the celebration was the performance by “Oazagconcert” artists who traveled from Kazakhstan to Beijing. Their traditional dances and songs brought the spirit of Kazakhstan’s rich cultural heritage to life, captivating the audience and enriching the event’s festive atmosphere.
Furthermore, the festivities extended to the National Centre for the Performing Arts, where a concert was held as part of Kazakhstan’s Cultural Day. This event underscored the importance of cultural exchange and humanitarian cooperation between Kazakhstan and China, with co-organized concerts serving as a bridge to further strengthen the bonds between the two nations.
The Republic Day celebration in Beijing was not just a diplomatic event but a vibrant showcase of Kazakhstan’s culture, achievements, and its flourishing relationship with China. It highlighted the significance of cultural diplomacy in fostering mutual understanding and respect between nations, paving the way for continued cooperation and friendship.
