When young parents, Daniel and Joanne Wong, bought their new 1,200 square foot apartment in Sha Tin, located in Hong Kong’s New Territories, they weren’t just thinking about the usual amenities. They envisioned a home filled with fun, laughter, and imagination.
The couple sought the expertise of Regina Kwok Wing-sum from Artwill Interior Design House, expressing their desire for an interior that would exude a playful vibe. Their vision was unique; they didn’t just want stylish furniture or vibrant colors. They wanted their home to be a space where their passions and family life seamlessly intertwined.
A notable request was for innovative ways to showcase Daniel’s prized collection of Bearbrick figures. Regina came up with multiple display concepts, which the couple loved. However, the pièce de résistance of Regina’s design proposal was the transformation of their daughter Sophia’s bedroom. The idea wasn’t just to design a child-friendly room; Regina proposed turning it into a full-blown indoor playground.
With the apartment having four bedrooms, two pairs flanking the central living area, the layout presented an exciting opportunity. Given the couple’s enthusiasm for the indoor playground idea, Regina was granted the creative freedom to merge two rooms, doubling the space for Sophia’s new play haven.
The result? An apartment that isn’t just a place of residence but a realm of imagination. Sophia’s room became the heart of the home, a symbol of the family’s dedication to ensuring their child’s formative years are filled with joy, creativity, and boundless play.
The Wong’s home stands as a testament to the idea that residential spaces can break the mold of traditional design. With a dash of creativity and a willingness to think outside the box, homes can be transformed into personal paradises, reflecting the unique aspirations and dreams of their inhabitants.
