Anderson .Paak Makes Directorial Debut with Family Comedy “K-Pops”

California-born musician Anderson .Paak, known for his dynamic performances and unique sound, is now venturing into the world of film direction with his feature debut K-Pops. The 38-year-old artist, who has previously directed music videos for Leon Bridges, H.E.R., and Hailee Steinfeld, is taking on a new challenge by stepping behind the camera for a full-length movie. In addition to directing, .Paak co-wrote and produced the feelgood family comedy, in which he also stars as BJ, “the biggest undiscovered drummer frontman since Phil Collins.”

K-Pops follows BJ as he joins the house band of a popular idol competition show in Seoul, South Korea. During his time on the show, BJ discovers that one of the contestants is his long-lost son, a revelation that turns his life upside down and sets the stage for a heartwarming and comedic exploration of family dynamics and personal discovery.

The film boasts a talented and diverse cast, including Yvette Nicole Brown, known for her roles in Community and The Odd Couple, Jonathan “Dumbfoundead” Park, a rapper and actor who has made a name for himself in both the music and entertainment industries, Jee Young Han, Kevin Woo, Cathy Shim, and .Paak’s own son, Soul Rasheed.
