Lady Gaga has unveiled a surprise companion album titled “Harlequin” for the highly anticipated “Joker” sequel, just days before its release on Friday. The 13-track album features a mix of new songs and original compositions she wrote specifically for the film and the record.

On the red carpet at the London premiere of “Joker: Folie à Deux,” Gaga shared her excitement about the project. “It’s all these really interesting original productions,” she said. “It has so much of the music that’s in ‘Joker’ as well as some original pieces that I wrote for the film, and one that’s for the album only, which is called ‘Happy Mistake.'”

The singer, who has already won both Grammy and Oscar awards, portrays the character Harleen Quinzel, also known as Harley Quinn, in the film. In this sequel, the story picks up where the 2019 “Joker” movie left off, with Arthur Fleck, played by Joaquin Phoenix, locked in a high-security prison awaiting trial for multiple murders. While in jail, he becomes captivated by Quinzel, an asylum patient who reciprocates his passion. Their tumultuous love story unfolds through captivating song-and-dance routines.

Gaga, who previously starred in critically acclaimed films like “A Star Is Born” and “House of Gucci,” said the experience of playing Harley Quinn deeply influenced her. “The whole experience inspired me through and through,” she explained. “It was so amazing to get to know this character through music, through this script, through dance, through all this tremendous collaboration.” She added that it had been difficult to part with the character after filming wrapped. “I don’t really know if I did because I made a whole record about her,” she confessed.

Alongside her work on “Harlequin,” Gaga has been busy preparing for her upcoming studio album, dubbed “LG7.” The album is set for release in February, with the first single dropping soon. “My studio album is coming out in February and my first single is coming out really soon, so I’m excited about that too,” she said.

“Joker: Folie à Deux,” which explores the intense relationship between the Joker and Harley Quinn, is set to begin its global cinematic release on October 1. The film promises to deliver an emotionally charged and musically vibrant narrative, with Lady Gaga’s “Harlequin” album serving as an extension of her portrayal of Harley Quinn.

With both “Harlequin” and “LG7” on the horizon, Lady Gaga’s fans have a lot to look forward to in the coming months. The multifaceted artist continues to push creative boundaries, seamlessly blending her talents in music and acting.
