Chanel Returns to the Grand Palais for Sparkling Spring-Summer 2024 Show

LifestyleFashionChanel Returns to the Grand Palais for Sparkling Spring-Summer 2024 Show

Chanel made a triumphant return to the Grand Palais for its spring-summer 2024 runway show, reclaiming the iconic Parisian venue with a dazzling collection of tweed creations and a special musical performance by actor Riley Keough. The Grand Palais, synonymous with Chanel’s grandiose fashion displays under the late Karl Lagerfeld, had been closed for renovations since 2021. Its reopening was a fitting homecoming for the luxury house, especially as the venue has been newly named in honor of Chanel’s founder, Gabrielle Chanel.

Guests arrived in style, stepping out of sleek black cars and making their way into the legendary building, which has been used for some of Chanel’s most dramatic runway settings in the past. The atmosphere was filled with anticipation as attendees, dressed head-to-toe in Chanel, entered through the majestic entrance to witness the much-awaited return to the Grand Palais.

The set for this season featured a striking centerpiece—a giant birdcage—evoking memories of a famous 1990s Chanel perfume advertisement starring Vanessa Paradis. This nod to the brand’s history provided the perfect backdrop for the models who strutted down the runway in Chanel’s latest creations. Tweed was at the forefront, with a variety of looks featuring slit mini-skirts, loose-fitting trousers, and elegant dresses. The ensembles were embellished with lightweight capes, fringes, and delicate bows, showcasing the brand’s signature attention to detail and craftsmanship.

The models sported playful accessories, including sunglasses adorned with feather-like decorations, and handbags designed to resemble birdcages. These whimsical touches added an air of elegance and fun to the collection, while maintaining Chanel’s timeless aesthetic.

Riley Keough, dressed in an all-black ensemble with a flowing cape and silver platform heels, delivered a surprise musical performance that added another layer of excitement to the event. Singing Prince’s iconic hit “When Doves Cry,” Keough was lifted on a swing that soared above the runway, allowing models to walk beneath her during the show’s grand finale.

The spring-summer 2024 collection embodied the essence of Chanel—elegance with a modern twist. As the models showcased the luxurious pieces, the atmosphere in the Grand Palais was electric, blending fashion, history, and performance into an unforgettable event. The return to this monumental venue marks yet another milestone in Chanel’s storied legacy, reaffirming its place as a leader in the fashion world.

This grand show capped off a spectacular Paris Fashion Week, which saw numerous luxury houses like Dior, Saint Laurent, Hermes, and Victoria Beckham presenting their latest collections. Chanel’s innovative display and the historic setting ensured it was one of the most memorable shows of the season.
