LifestyleEason Chan Lookalike Causes Stir During Lunar New Year

A man from Xuan’en county, Hubei province, found himself at the center of attention during the Lunar New Year after being mistaken for Hong Kong pop icon Eason Chan. Videos of him circulated online, with many netizens convinced that the renowned singer had made a surprise visit to the area.

With curly hair and a style reminiscent of Chan’s, the man, surnamed Han, drew crowds eager to take photos. His resemblance to the famous singer was so striking that even tourists joined in the excitement, fueling speculation about his identity. Han, now in his early 40s, works at a barbershop in Zhuhai, Guangdong province, but returns home each year for the Spring Festival.

A devoted fan of Chan for over two decades, Han has embraced his lookalike status by adopting the singer’s hairstyle and fashion choices. “My friends often say I look like Eason Chan, so I decided to lean into it,” he said. Despite the resemblance, he admits that Chan’s Cantonese songs are challenging, and he can only sing Ten Years fluently.

During the holiday, Han was constantly approached by people mistaking him for Chan, with some even gathering in crowds. One memorable encounter involved a child grabbing his clothes and asking, “Are you the uncle who sings Warrior of the Darkness?” Even in Zhuhai, he frequently receives comments from passersby and barbershop customers who joke about his uncanny resemblance to the singer.

As the video of Han spread online, discussions erupted among netizens. Some marveled at how closely their features aligned, with one commenting, “Their hairline and eye bags match perfectly!” Another noted, “Even their accents are similar!”

While Han enjoys the attention, he hopes to one day meet the real Eason Chan and even dreams of the singer visiting Xuan’en. “With more tourists coming to my hometown, maybe one day he’ll come here too,” he said.

His unexpected viral moment has added to the festive spirit of the Lunar New Year, bringing amusement to fans of the legendary singer and proving the power of a striking resemblance.
