SportsAnisimova Claims China Open Crown in Dominant Performance

Amanda Anisimova has captured her second WTA 1,000 title, triumphing at the China Open with a commanding victory over Linda Noskova. The win marks a significant milestone in Anisimova’s already impressive season, further solidifying her status as a top contender in the women’s tennis circuit.

Match Highlights

Anisimova showcased her prowess from the outset, delivering a decisive 6-0 performance in the opening set against the Czech opponent. Noskova, competing in her first WTA 1,000 final, struggled to find her rhythm, winning only 12 points in the swift first set, often referred to as a ‘bagel’.

However, the match took a turn in the second set as Noskova adopted a more aggressive strategy. She managed to break Anisimova’s serve early in the set and, despite a wobble with double faults, consolidated her lead to level the match at one set apiece. This resurgence highlighted Noskova’s resilience and determination.

Decisive Third Set

The final set saw Anisimova regain her composure and elevate her game. After a closely contested start, she broke Noskova’s serve in the sixth game, a pivotal moment that set her on the path to victory. Anisimova maintained her focus to close out the match and secure the championship.

Anisimova Reflects on Victory

Speaking after her win, the world number four expressed her satisfaction with her performance and the progress she has made. “It’s been quite a few weeks for me, for sure,” Anisimova stated. “I feel like I’ve learned a lot about myself. I can take a lot of positives and [have made] a lot of progress… just figuring out ways to face certain challenges and push myself in moments when it feels like I can’t go any further.”

She added, “I feel like in that sense I learned that I’m stronger than I think. That’s a huge win for me… winning the title is really incredible. I’m really happy.”

Anisimova’s victory at the China Open follows a strong showing at Grand Slam events earlier in the year, where she reached the finals of Wimbledon and the US Open. Despite a recent ankle injury that led to her withdrawal from the Korea Open, her performance in Beijing demonstrates her resilience and continued ascent in the professional tennis world.
