Ford Unveils Redesigned 2025 Expedition SUV with Enhanced Features and Technology

BusinessFord Unveils Redesigned 2025 Expedition SUV with Enhanced Features and Technology

Ford Motor has revealed a redesign of its popular Expedition SUV for 2025, introducing new features and technology to better compete in the growing full-size SUV segment. The latest version of the three-row SUV boasts a more refined interior and exterior, enhanced comfort, and a host of new convenience features designed to improve the overall driving experience. Key upgrades include a 24-inch driver display and Ford’s BlueCruise hands-free highway driving system.

The redesign is part of Ford’s effort to cater to the evolving needs of families. “We spent more than 1,100 hours talking with customers about their everyday lives. With those insights, we’ve rethought and redesigned the Expedition to help customers make the most of their precious time with family,” said Trevor Scott, general manager of Ford Utilities.

While pricing for the 2025 Expedition won’t be announced until closer to its release in the spring, current models range from $55,000 to $84,000, with the average transaction price around $70,000. The last major redesign for the Expedition occurred seven years ago, and its main competition has historically been full-size SUVs from General Motors, such as the Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban, and GMC Yukon. However, the market has grown significantly since then, with new competitors like the Jeep Wagoneer from Stellantis and three-row crossovers from Kia and Hyundai entering the scene.

Edmunds.com, a leading auto data firm, reports that three-row crossovers like the Kia Telluride and Hyundai Palisade—smaller and more affordable than the Expedition—have become the most cross-shopped segment in comparison to full-size SUVs. Despite this, the full-size SUV segment, which includes the Expedition, has seen growth, now representing 2.7% of the U.S. market, up from 2% in 2017. Segment sales have totaled around 312,500 units through September 2024.

The 2025 Expedition will come in four distinct models: Active, Platinum (including an “Ultimate” version), King Ranch, and the off-road-focused Tremor, which is new to the Expedition lineup but available on other Ford vehicles. Buyers will also be able to choose between the standard version and the longer “Max” model for more cargo space.

Under the hood, the Expedition will be powered by a 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 engine, with an option for a high-output version delivering 440 horsepower and 510 foot-pounds of torque, offering both performance and power for adventurous drivers. With these updates, Ford aims to keep the Expedition at the forefront of the competitive full-size SUV market.
