Capgemini has announced its agreement to acquire Piterion, a specialist in Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and Manufacturing Operations Management (MOM). This strategic move is set to significantly enhance Capgemini’s capabilities in industrial digitalization, particularly for clients navigating complex manufacturing environments and seeking to leverage AI and cloud technologies.
The acquisition of Piterion, founded in 2004 and headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany, brings a team of over 200 experts with a strong track record in interconnecting critical manufacturing systems and managing complex PLM landscapes. Piterion operates subsidiaries in Italy, Tunisia, and India, serving blue-chip clients across automotive, aerospace and defense, life sciences, and hi-tech sectors.
Piterion’s core strengths lie in designing and managing complex engineering application environments to optimize manufacturing processes, enhance efficiency, traceability, and reliability. The company specializes in industrial digitalization, PLM, and the integration of systems for manufacturing execution, MOM, and enterprise resource planning. By integrating Piterion’s capabilities with Capgemini’s AI-driven analytics and generative AI models, the combined entity will empower clients to accelerate their transition from on-premise infrastructures to cloud-native environments. This synergy is expected to drive faster time-to-market, improve engineering and manufacturing cost efficiency, and boost overall operational responsiveness.
Dr. Michael Schulte, CEO of Capgemini Engineering, highlighted that the acquisition will strengthen Capgemini’s global PLM practice, expand its solution offerings, and deepen strategic client relationships. Ravi Nirankari, Co-Founder of Piterion, expressed excitement about joining Capgemini, noting the complementary nature of their respective ecosystems and the growth opportunities for Piterion’s team members. The transaction is anticipated to conclude in the upcoming months, subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approvals.
