San Francisco’s China Live to Launch Expansive Asian Food Playground in Santa Clara

CultureSan Francisco's China Live to Launch Expansive Asian Food Playground in Santa Clara

San Francisco’s acclaimed China Live is set to expand its culinary empire with a new, expansive Asian food playground named Asia Live. This ambitious project will open its doors at Westfield Valley Fair in Santa Clara, promising a multi-faceted dining experience that goes far beyond a typical mall eatery. The venture aims to bring the vibrant flavors and diverse culinary traditions of Asia to Silicon Valley.

A Culinary Journey to Silicon Valley

The brainchild of restaurateurs George Chen and Cindy Wong-Chen, Asia Live is designed as a comprehensive pan-Asian emporium. Building on the success of their 30,000 square foot China Live complex in San Francisco, which debuted in 2017, this new location aims to replicate and expand upon that successful model. Chen views the Santa Clara venture as a natural evolution, bringing the dynamic market and kitchen experience from San Francisco’s Chinatown to the heart of Silicon Valley.

What to Expect at Asia Live

Asia Live is being positioned as a unique marketplace restaurant. Diners can anticipate a variety of culinary experiences within the 13,000 square foot, two-story space. This includes:

  • Multiple live cooking stations showcasing different Asian cuisines.
  • Dedicated sushi and robata counters.
  • Tandoori ovens for freshly baked breads and dishes.
  • An authentic Indonesian rice table experience.
  • A cafe and curated retail selections.
  • A cocktail program inspired by China Live’s renowned Cold Drinks Bar.

The menu will be seasonally rotating, offering a dynamic selection of dishes. While specific details are still being finalized, popular items from China Live, such as sheng jian bao and Peking duck pockets, are expected to be featured, alongside new regional specialties.

Timeline and Location Details

Originally slated for a fall 2025 debut, the opening of Asia Live has been rescheduled for sometime between March and May 2026. The new establishment will occupy the prominent two-story space at 2855 Stevens Creek Blvd. #1891, formerly home to iChina, within Westfield Valley Fair. Mall representatives have expressed enthusiasm for the addition, believing it will further enhance the shopping center’s reputation as a premier dining destination.
