The inaugural Splendid Craft Art Fair (SCAF), held recently in Guangzhou, South China’s Guangdong Province, marked a significant milestone in the world of contemporary craftsmanship. Chang Xiaoqiong, co-founder and executive director of the event, emphasized the fair’s goal to present an international handicraft fair to Chinese audiences. Zheng Binglin, the founder of the ZHENG Gallery in London, UK, expressed his enthusiasm for the event. Participating in a Chinese handicraft fair for the first time, he appreciated it as an excellent platform for cultural and artistic exchange. Zheng noted the unique blend of Eastern charm and contemporary elements in many of the showcased works.
The craft fair is set to become an annual event, promising a continuous celebration of global handicraft arts. It plans to host various interdisciplinary exchanges and international exhibitions throughout each year, contributing significantly to the global art scene.
