In the glitzy world of South Korean entertainment, where relationships often remain the talk of the town, another celebrity couple has decided to part ways. K-pop sensation Jisoo, renowned as a core member of the global powerhouse group Blackpink, and esteemed actor Ahn Bo-hyun have concluded their relationship, a mere two months after publicly acknowledging it.
The official confirmation arrived on a somber Tuesday, from the desks of Jisoo’s management, YG Entertainment. The agency candidly shared, “Owing to their demanding schedules, Jisoo and Ahn have chosen to go their separate ways recently.” This announcement mirrored the information divulged earlier by the South Korean broadcaster JTBC, citing the bustling commitments of the two as the primary reason for the split.
The narrative of their romance became a focal point of media attention when they, rather unintentionally, got caught during their private dates. Following the speculative buzz and mounting curiosities, the pair officially revealed their relationship status on August 3. YG Entertainment had then expressed, “At present, they are getting to know each other better.”
Jisoo, with her captivating voice and enchanting persona, has been in the limelight since her early days with Blackpink. Debuting in 2016, Blackpink’s journey to global stardom was rapid, mesmerizing fans worldwide with hits like “Whistle,” “Ddu-du Ddu-du,” and “As If It’s Your Last.” The year 2022 marked a significant achievement for the group, as their album ‘Born Pink’ claimed the top spot on the US Billboard 200 chart. A momentous occasion, it was a first for any Korean girl group. Their digital presence is equally impressive, boasting over 90 million YouTube subscribers, making them the platform’s most-followed musical act.
March heralded Jisoo’s venture as a solo artist with her debut album, ‘Me.’ Alongside her musical pursuits, she has been gradually cementing her place in the acting domain. Her inaugural acting venture was in the JTBC series ‘Snowdrop’ in 2021. More recently, she graced the screen with a cameo in ‘Dr. Cheon and the Lost Talisman’ and is rumoured to be in discussions for a leading role in ‘Omniscient Reader.’
Ahn Bo-hyun, on the other hand, embarked on his professional journey as a model in 2007. Transitioning to acting, he made his mark with the 2014 drama ‘Golden Cross.’ Over the years, he has showcased his versatility in acclaimed dramas such as ‘Itaewon Class,’ ‘Yumi’s Cells,’ and ‘See You in My 19th Life.’ Ahn’s next venture sees him in the anticipated historical film ‘Noryang: Deadly Sea,’ which is the climactic instalment of director Kim Han-min’s trilogy based on the heroic tales of the 16th-century admiral, Yi Sun-sin.
