The renowned Harbin Ice and Snow World, an annual highlight in Harbin, Northeast China’s Heilongjiang Province, is set to incorporate scenes from the iconic Winterfell of the American TV series “Game of Thrones” in this year’s winter gala festival. This innovative integration follows a suggestion from a netizen on a public message board, proposing the creation of a Winterfell-themed attraction complete with an ice-built Wall and an Iron Throne.
Responding to the suggestion, the Harbin Madieer Cultural Tourism Group confirmed the inclusion of classic Winterfell scenes in the park’s design. They assured that the adaptation will be carried out carefully, respecting copyright norms. This initiative is not the first instance where Harbin Ice and Snow World has infused elements of popular movies and television series into its attractions. In the past, themes from “Frozen” and “Journey to the West” have been successfully incorporated, drawing immense visitor interest.
The Harbin International Ice and Snow Sculpture Festival, known for its large-scale ice and snow sculptures and long slides made entirely of ice and snow, is an annual extravaganza attracting visitors from around the globe. The upcoming festival promises to be the largest in scale to date. Covering an area of 81.66 hectares, it will feature six creative designs, seven scene highlights, and nine thematic areas. The announcement was made during the Heilongjiang Province winter tourism promotion event in Guangzhou city on November 3.
While further details about the festival’s opening hours are yet to be announced, anticipation is building for what is considered the largest ice and snow festival and theme park in the world in terms of scale and duration. The festival not only showcases spectacular ice art but also offers numerous recreational facilities, making it a winter wonderland for visitors.
In addition to the themed attractions, the Harbin Ice Lantern Art Fair, a significant part of the city’s cultural heritage, adds to the festival’s charm. The art fair, with a long history in Harbin, is celebrated for its intricate and beautiful ice lantern displays, attracting art enthusiasts and tourists alike.
This year’s integration of Game of Thrones’ Winterfell theme is set to add a new dimension to the Harbin Ice and Snow World Festival, promising a unique and immersive experience for visitors. The festival continues to blend artistic creativity with cultural elements, offering a magical winter experience that goes beyond traditional ice and snow sculptures.
