SportsPierre Ng Hopeful for I Give's Sixth Win Amidst Hong Kong's Cold Weather

In the world of Hong Kong horse racing, Pierre Ng Pang-chi‘s anticipation for the upcoming Class Three Pine Handicap is high, as his sprinter I Give aims for an impressive sixth consecutive victory. This remarkable feat would extend I Give’s winning streak, which has seen the horse progress rapidly through the racing classes since the start of the season.

I Give, a son of Per Incanto, has shown a remarkable improvement, beginning the season with a rating of 37 in the Class Five Kowloon Peak Handicap over 1,200m. His subsequent victories have escalated his rating to a substantial 71, making him one of the most talked-about horses in the circuit.

The recent cold snap in Hong Kong presents a potential challenge for I Give, but trainer Ng remains hopeful that the weather change won’t impact the horse’s performance. I Give has been a revelation for Ng, significantly contributing to his impressive season tally of 37 wins. This weekend, the gelding faces a new test as he competes in colder conditions.

Known for his dominant front-running style, I Give has led from the front in all his victories, setting increasingly faster times with each race. His most recent win in the Chevalier Construction Handicap saw him clock a career-best time, demonstrating his remarkable speed and consistency.

Ng’s faith in I Give is shared by Italian jockey Andrea Atzeni, who has been an integral part of the horse’s recent success. Atzeni will be at the reins again for the upcoming race, hoping to continue the winning momentum. Besides I Give, Atzeni will also be partnering with other horses trained by Ng, including Winning Steps, Sunny Shines, and M M Nebula, showcasing the strong collaboration between the jockey and the trainer.

The upcoming race is not just a test for I Give but also a reflection of Ng’s skillful training and strategic planning. As the current leader in this season’s trainers’ championship, Ng is poised to further solidify his position with a potential victory from I Give. The horse racing community eagerly awaits this weekend’s race, where I Give could potentially add another chapter to his already impressive story.
