Coldplay to Livestream Ahmedabad Concert via Mukesh Ambani’s Streaming Platform

LifestyleColdplay to Livestream Ahmedabad Concert via Mukesh Ambani’s Streaming Platform

British rock band Coldplay has teamed up with Indian billionaire Mukesh Ambani’s media venture to livestream one of their highly anticipated concerts in Ahmedabad, offering fans across India a chance to experience their Music of the Spheres World Tour from home.

Set to take place on January 26 in Gujarat, Coldplay’s concert has generated massive excitement, with tickets selling out within minutes when they went on sale last year. This event marks one of the first high-profile collaborations since Reliance Industries and Walt Disney merged their Indian media assets in a landmark $8.5 billion deal, forming the country’s largest entertainment company.

The live concert broadcast will be available on Disney+ Hotstar, India’s most widely used streaming platform. In an official video post on X, Coldplay announced, “Coldplay’s biggest ever show will stream LIVE from Ahmedabad across all of India.”

India’s live events industry is booming, fueled by a growing young, affluent audience eager for international entertainment. In recent years, major global artists such as Dua Lipa, Ed Sheeran, and Maroon 5 have performed in India, reflecting the country’s increasing prominence as a must-visit destination for international tours.

With streaming services enjoying immense popularity in India, millions of users regularly tune in to watch Hollywood and Bollywood films, as well as major sporting events like the Indian Premier League (IPL) cricket tournament. The Coldplay concert livestream adds another major entertainment event to the platform, allowing fans who couldn’t secure tickets to experience the show in real-time.

Coldplay’s India tour includes three concerts in Mumbai, starting January 20, before moving to Ahmedabad for performances on January 25 and January 26. These concerts are part of their ongoing Music of the Spheres World Tour, which has received global acclaim.

For fans like Deekshitha Devdas, a doctor who couldn’t get tickets, the livestream is a perfect alternative. “I am ready to pay a premium to watch the concert live,” she said. “As someone who is pregnant, it is much more comfortable to enjoy the show with my family from home.”

With this initiative, Coldplay is bridging the gap between live performances and digital accessibility, making their music more inclusive for Indian audiences who may not be able to attend in person.
