Xiaomi has officially opened pre-orders for a significantly upgraded version of its popular SU7 electric sedan. The refreshed model boasts notable improvements in range, performance, and safety features, aiming to strengthen its competitive position against rivals like Tesla. The new SU7 lineup starts at approximately $32,800 USD, with official launches slated for April 2026.

Performance and Range Boost

The new generation of the Xiaomi SU7 sees substantial upgrades across its powertrain and battery technology. The Standard and Pro models now deliver 320 horsepower, up from 299 hp, while the Max version sees its combined output increase from 673 hp to 690 hp. The high-voltage platform has also been upgraded, allowing for faster charging. Notably, the Max model can now charge from 510 km to 670 km in just 15 minutes. Range figures have also seen improvements, with the Standard model reaching 720 km CLTC, the Pro model achieving 902 km CLTC, and the Max model offering 835 km CLTC.

Enhanced Safety and Technology Features

Xiaomi has prioritized safety in the updated SU7. The number of airbags has been increased from seven to nine across all models. The vehicle’s body structure now features 2200MPa hot-formed steel door anti-collision beams, and all models include an “embedded anti-roll cage” and a dedicated backup power system for door locks. Advanced driver-assistance hardware has also been optimized, with LiDAR now standard on all trims. The ADAS computing power has been standardized at 700 TOPS across the range, a significant increase from the previous maximum of 508 TOPS, and all models now feature the Xiaomi HAD driving assistance system.

Design and Pricing Adjustments

Subtle exterior refinements include a new Capri Blue paint option and redesigned 20-inch wheels with wider rear tires for improved grip. Inside, a new Dark Black interior option is available, alongside upgraded steering wheel and seat stitching. The pre-sale prices for the three trims – Standard, Pro, and Max – range from 229,900 yuan ($32,800 USD) to 309,900 yuan ($44,300 USD). These represent a slight increase over the current models, but Xiaomi emphasizes that the updated SU7 remains competitively priced against rivals like the Tesla Model 3.

Strong Delivery Performance

Alongside the SU7 upgrades, Xiaomi EV announced robust delivery figures for December 2025, with over 50,212 vehicles delivered, setting a new monthly record. The YU7 electric SUV was a significant contributor, accounting for nearly 78% of these deliveries. While the SU7 sedan’s deliveries saw a decline in the latter half of 2025, the overall performance indicates strong market demand for Xiaomi’s electric offerings.
