BusinessEkco Bolsters Operational Technology Capabilities with Datalogix Acquisition

Dublin-headquartered Ekco, a leading security-first managed security service provider (MSSP), has announced its eighth acquisition in three years, purchasing Cork-based Datalogix. This strategic move significantly expands Ekco’s operational technology (OT) capabilities across Ireland, the UK, and the US, aiming to address the growing convergence of IT and OT environments and the increasing threat landscape.

Datalogix, established in 2005, specializes in secure OT infrastructure design, implementation, and support services. The company serves critical sectors including life sciences, pharmaceuticals, general manufacturing, and critical national infrastructure (CNI). With operations spanning Ireland, the UK, and the US, Datalogix’s expertise is expected to be a significant asset to Ekco.

Following the acquisition, Datalogix’s team will integrate into Ekco’s global workforce of over 1,000 employees. The combined entity aims to enhance its ability to manage the complexities arising from the convergence of IT and OT systems, a critical challenge for businesses facing evolving cyber threats and stringent regulatory requirements. The addition of Datalogix is projected to increase Ekco’s security division’s revenue to €100 million, representing half of the group’s total revenue of €200 million.

This acquisition continues Ekco’s aggressive expansion strategy. In the past three years, Ekco has completed eight acquisitions, including Adapt IT, Predatech, Solsoft, CTS, Bluecube, Radius Technologies, and iSYSTEMS. These moves underscore Ekco’s ambition to build a unified, security-first MSP platform across Europe.

Der Cremen, Managing Director of Datalogix, and CTO Damian White, who bring over 50 years of combined industry experience, will transition to Ekco as part of the deal. Steve MacNicholas, CEO of Ekco Ireland, expressed admiration for Datalogix’s specialized capabilities and client-focused approach, highlighting the synergistic potential of the partnership. Cremen noted that joining Ekco will allow for increased investment in OT capabilities, providing enhanced resources and resilience for customers while maintaining the responsiveness they value.
