Woodward, Inc. has announced an agreement to acquire Jet Research Development, Inc., operating as Valve Research & Manufacturing Company (VRM). This strategic move aims to bolster Woodward’s aerospace controls portfolio by integrating VRM’s expertise in high-precision flow control valves. The acquisition is expected to close in the first half of 2026.

Woodward, a global leader in energy conversion and control solutions, is set to enhance its aerospace segment through the acquisition of VRM. The Florida-based company is renowned for its high-precision flow control valves, including solenoid, check, and relief valves, which are critical components in aerospace applications. This acquisition aligns with Woodward’s ongoing strategy to deepen its capabilities in specialized aerospace technologies.

The integration of VRM’s approximately 130 employees is expected to bring deep expertise in precision flow control technologies to Woodward. These skills are anticipated to complement Woodward’s existing engineering, design, and manufacturing capabilities in fuel and motion control systems. The acquisition is poised to unlock new growth opportunities across both commercial and defense aerospace Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) applications, particularly for Next Generation Single Aisle (NSA) programs. Solenoid technology for precision flow control is identified as a vital element for current and future aircraft programs.

VRM will continue its operations without interruption following the acquisition. All existing customer contracts and supplier relationships are expected to remain unchanged. Patricia Kilgallon, President of Valve Research, expressed confidence in Woodward as a partner, citing their long-standing relationship and commitment to engineering excellence. Shawn McLevige, President of Woodward’s Aerospace segment, highlighted the acquisition’s potential to optimize the supply chain, enhance delivery capabilities, and support long-term growth strategies with OEMs and end-users.
