Marriott International has officially launched its Autograph Collection brand in India, marking its 19th brand in the country. The debut property is the NoorMahal, Delhi NCR Karnal, Autograph Collection, a 176-room palace hotel situated along the historic Grand Trunk Road. This strategic entry into a mid-sized city like Karnal underscores the brand’s commitment to unique, character-driven properties.
Marriott International’s Autograph Collection, known for its curated portfolio of independent hotels that are “exactly like nothing else,” has arrived in India. The brand’s inaugural property is the NoorMahal, a 176-key palace hotel located in Karnal, Haryana. This choice of location, a departure from typical metropolitan entries, emphasizes the brand’s ethos of selecting hotels with a strong sense of place and unique identity. Kiran Andicot, Senior Vice President for South Asia at Marriott International, stated that NoorMahal was chosen for its well-defined identity and strong sense of place, aligning perfectly with the Autograph Collection’s philosophy.
The NoorMahal hotel itself is a testament to India’s rich architectural heritage, drawing inspiration from Mughal, Rajputana, Punjabi, and Persian styles. Built in 2009, the property features domes, jali work, and arches, complemented by an extensive collection of art and artifacts. The interiors seamlessly blend traditional elements with contemporary design, offering a luxurious experience for guests. The hotel boasts 176 guest rooms and suites, including premium penthouses like Raja Niwas and Khwabgah, designed to reinterpret royal living with modern amenities and expansive layouts.
Beyond its luxurious accommodations, NoorMahal offers a diverse range of dining experiences across four venues, including The Frontier Mail for North-Western frontier cuisine and Colonel Saab for all-day Indian and global dishes. Wellness and recreational facilities include a spa, gym, outdoor pool, and various activities. The hotel is also positioned as a premier destination for weddings and large gatherings, featuring over 300,000 square feet of event spaces, including expansive lawns and indoor halls. This makes it an attractive venue for both social events and as a resting point for travelers exploring destinations like Amritsar, Shimla, and Dehradun.
The introduction of the Autograph Collection marks Marriott Bonvoy’s 19th brand in India, reflecting the company’s ongoing commitment to expanding its presence in the country’s dynamic hospitality market. This move aligns with the growing demand from Indian travelers for distinctive, design-led stays rooted in cultural authenticity. Colonel Manbeer Singh Choudhary, owner of NoorMahal, expressed pride in partnering with Marriott International, highlighting that this collaboration places NoorMahal among an exclusive ensemble of celebrated hotels worldwide, underscoring its unique character and commitment to excellence.
