After a significant delay, Jessica Chastain has announced that her political thriller series, “The Savant,” will finally be released on Apple TV this summer. The show, which was originally slated for a September 2025 premiere, was postponed following the assassination of Charlie Kirk. Chastain expressed her relief and anticipation, confirming the series’ upcoming debut.
Jessica Chastain shared the exciting news during an exclusive interview with Variety at the Breakthrough Prize ceremony in Santa Monica. “Before it was like, ‘I don’t know if we’re going to see it,’ but now I can say, ‘We’re going to see it,’” Chastain stated. Sources indicate that Apple is targeting a July release for the series, though an official announcement from the platform is still pending.
Apple TV announced the postponement of “The Savant” on September 23, 2025, citing “careful consideration” and a desire to release the series at a future date. Chastain, however, publicly expressed her disagreement with the decision via an Instagram statement. She emphasized the show’s relevance and the urgency of honoring the “heroes who work every day to stop violence before it happens.”
“The Savant” features Chastain as an investigator who goes undercover on the dark web to identify and thwart hate groups and prevent domestic terrorism. The series boasts an ensemble cast including Nnamdi Asomugha, Pablo Schreiber, James Badge Dale, Cole Doman, Michael Mosley, Dagmara Domińcczyk, Jordana Spiro, Trinity Lee Shirley, Toussaint Francois Battiste, Hannah Gross, and David Wilson Barnes. The show is created by Melissa James Gibson.
