The deal combines Curium’s manufacturing and diagnostic capabilities with Lantheus’s portfolio of imaging agents and cancer-focused therapies, creating a stronger competitor in a field where radioactive compounds are used to both diagnose and treat disease.
Radiopharmaceuticals attach radioactive isotopes to targeting molecules that home in on tumors, delivering imaging signals or therapeutic doses of radiation directly to cancer cells. The approach has drawn intense interest from major drugmakers seeking precision oncology treatments with fewer side effects than conventional chemotherapy.
The agreement includes an upfront cash component alongside contingent payments tied to future milestones, structuring the total consideration to reach as high as $8 billion depending on performance targets.
