Whoop Launches 5.0 and MG Devices with Enhanced Features and Battery Life

BusinessWhoop Launches 5.0 and MG Devices with Enhanced Features and Battery Life

Whoop has unveiled two new wearable devices, the Whoop 5.0 and Whoop MG, designed to offer better performance, a more refined design, and extended battery life. The new models support up to 14 days of battery life, which is three times the duration of the previous Whoop 4.0, while also being 7% smaller and 60% faster in terms of processing power.

These devices are crafted for 24/7 wear, allowing users to monitor various aspects of their health and fitness round the clock. The Whoop 5.0 and Whoop MG are equipped with enhanced hardware and offer additional in-app health insights, helping users understand how their everyday choices influence their physical performance and overall well-being. Will Ahmed, the founder and CEO of Whoop, stated that these improvements are the result of a decade of research and development aimed at supporting members in living their healthiest lives.

Whoop is offering three membership tiers: Whoop One, priced at $199 with the Whoop 5.0; Whoop Peak, at $239 with the Whoop 5.0; and Whoop Life, at $359 with the Whoop MG. The Whoop 5.0 is suitable for tracking key metrics like sleep, strain, recovery, and the impacts of workouts on cardiovascular and muscular health. It also includes menstrual cycle and pregnancy tracking.

For a more detailed health experience, the Whoop Peak membership includes access to a Health Monitor feature, offering insights into vitals such as heart rate, respiratory rate, blood oxygen, and skin temperature. Additionally, it introduces a real-time stress monitor to track stress levels and provide guided breathing exercises. The new Healthspan feature, developed with the Buck Institute for Research on Aging, tracks nine health metrics to calculate a user’s “Whoop Age” and “Pace of Aging,” helping users manage their long-term health goals.

The most comprehensive membership, Whoop Life, includes a medical-grade ECG feature to detect heart irregularities such as AFib, and offers Blood Pressure Insights, which provide daily data on systolic and diastolic ranges. These features are especially valuable for users focused on detailed health monitoring.

The Whoop MG, while sleek and lighter than the previous version, may not appeal to everyone aesthetically, but its features, especially the extended battery life and advanced health insights, make it a strong contender for fitness enthusiasts and health-conscious users. For existing Whoop customers, the significant battery upgrade alone may be a compelling reason to consider an upgrade.
