Geely Auto Launches High-End Galaxy Series to Compete in Fierce NEV Market

BusinessAutomotiveGeely Auto Launches High-End Galaxy Series to Compete in Fierce NEV Market

On Thursday, Chinese automaker Geely Auto announced the launch of a new high-end electrified product series in a bid to maintain its competitiveness in the country’s cutthroat NEV market. The series, called Galaxy, will feature seven plug-in hybrids and electric models set to hit the market in the next two years, with three of them being released this year.

It’s worth noting that the Galaxy range will be positioned lower than Geely Auto’s parent company’s premium brand, Zeekr. Additionally, the company revealed advanced electrified technologies, such as a battery safety system, hybrid powertrains, and a smart vehicle operating system known as Galaxy N-OS.

This new operating system was created in line with the Smart Geely 2025 strategy, which involves a heavy focus on self-developed chips, operating systems, intelligent cloud computing, and satellite networks to secure the brand’s future. With the support of Geely Holding Group, Galaxy vehicles will have access to precision positioning and high-precision maps to aid in intelligent driving functionality.

Geely Holding Group plans to establish a network of 72 satellites by 2025, providing global coverage for Galaxy models. Geely Auto sold 1.43 million vehicles in 2022, an 8 percent year-on-year increase, with NEV sales accounting for around 300,000 units. The carmaker anticipates total sales to reach 1.65 million units this year.
