In the city of Sanmenxia, located in Central China’s Henan Province, the 14th annual China Photography Art Festival has ceremoniously begun. The festival this year has adopted the theme “Sailing in new era and reaching for splendor,” which hopes to encapsulate the shifting dynamics of social life and the burgeoning popularity of winter sports through the medium of photography. The festival serves as an exciting visual treat for visitors, enveloping them in the captivating charm of various photographic stories.

This gathering goes beyond just being an event for photographers to come together and share their insights into the evolving world of photography. It is also a platform for appreciating the deep-rooted historical and cultural heritage of Sanmenxia. As visitors wander through the Sanmenxia International Convention and Exhibition Center, they will be presented with around twenty unique exhibitions of recent Chinese photography, showcasing its achievements and progress in recent years.

The exhibit space itself is augmented by an impressive display of high-tech lighting, creating an immersive experience for guests. The festival will also be hosting several seminars where experienced photographers have been invited to share their craft and experiences, fostering an enriching atmosphere for all.

Meanwhile, in Beijing, the city’s College Student Dance Festival has drawn to a successful close. The festival this year saw an impressive attendance, with over 2,700 students from 57 different colleges actively participating. The 2023 festival strongly promoted originality, resulting in a surge of unique plays created by the students and teachers themselves. These original works constituted a whopping 68 percent of the total, demonstrating the thriving creativity and enthusiasm prevalent among the college students.

The festival in 2023 was guided by a well-defined and prominent theme, one that celebrates both China’s excellent traditional culture and the vibrant campus culture. It effectively preserved intangible cultural heritage while also highlighting the unique characteristics and energy of today’s students.

In addition to the dance performances, a comprehensive array of seminars and workshops was also organized, catering to a variety of dance styles. These sessions focused on imparting basic skills training and technical expertise, thereby nurturing the dancers’ craft and capabilities.
