South Korean entertainment is set to welcome back notable actors who recently completed their mandatory military service. At the same time, Netflix is ramping up its lineup with new Korean superhero series and a road drama.

  1. “Mr. Plankton”

Netflix is set to premiere the new series “Mr. Plankton,” featuring an A-list ensemble. The lead cast includes Woo Do-hwan, Lee Yoo-mi, Oh Jung-se, and Kim Hae-sook, with direction by Hong Jong-chan, known for “Juvenile Justice.”

Woo will portray a wandering character in search of his biological father. Along his journey, he encounters Lee’s character, a runaway bride who leaves Oh’s corporate heir at the altar. Kim plays the role of Oh’s mother. After gaining international fame through supporting roles in Netflix hits “Squid Game” and “All of Us Are Dead,” Lee recently rose to leading lady status.

  1. “Although I Am Not a Hero”

Another project in the pipeline is “Although I Am Not a Hero.” Actor Jang Ki-yong, freshly back from military service and known for “Now, We Are Breaking Up,” is potentially teaming up with Chun Woo-hee, fresh off the con artist drama “Delightfully Deceitful.” Both are currently considering the offer to star in the fantasy romance series, which is rumored to be broadcasted by JTBC.

  1. “Good Boy”

Also in the mix is “Good Boy,” a series following top-tier athletes who transition into a special branch of the police force after their sports careers. Park Bo-gum, known for “Record of Youth” and “Seobok,” has been offered the lead role of a former boxer who joins this elite team.

  1. “Cashero”

Finally, Lee Jun-ho, currently on screens in “King the Land,” is considering his next project, the upcoming Netflix original series “Cashero.” The action-comedy series, based on the webtoon of the same name, follows the life of a unique superhero whose powers grow proportionally to his wealth. As luck would have it, he is a corporate heir in this K-drama world.

These new projects will further enhance the global appeal of Korean entertainment, offering a diverse mix of genres and showcasing the talent of accomplished actors. With Netflix bolstering its Korean content, fans worldwide can look forward to more high-quality dramas and series from the land of K-pop and K-drama.
