Guangdong’s Five-Star Hotel Welcomes Stray Cats, Earning Praise

LifestyleGuangdong's Five-Star Hotel Welcomes Stray Cats, Earning Praise

In the heart of southeastern China’s Guangdong province, a five-star hotel has chosen to stand out, not with opulent chandeliers or grand sculptures, but with a heartwarming display of compassion. Breaking the conventional aesthetics of luxury, the hotel shares its majestic entrance with a few special guests – a small group of stray cats.

While other establishments of its stature might prioritize lavish decor, this hotel has made room for kindness. A cozy mini-shelter, complete with plush bedding, food, and water, is strategically placed beside the main entrance, welcoming the homeless felines of the city. A recent video clip captured by a guest showcased a feline comfortably enjoying its meal in the hotel’s sanctuary.

Upon inquiry, hotel staff revealed that four regular feline visitors frequently enjoy the offered hospitality. Among them are two ginger cats affectionately named Dahuang and Xiaohuang. These felines have become synonymous with the hotel’s identity, and their presence is a testament to the hotel’s unwavering commitment to kindness.

But what about potential complaints from human guests, some might wonder. Addressing this concern, a staff member shared that the cats, except for the sociable Dahuang, usually scurry away upon seeing approaching guests. Furthermore, in the time since the hotel began this practice, there have been no issues or complaints. The staff believes that as long as guests maintain their distance and let the animals be, everyone can coexist harmoniously.

Adding to its pet-friendly policy, the hotel also welcomes guests to bring along their pets, provided they weigh under 10kg. This gesture doesn’t come with any hidden costs, except for potential cleaning charges if deemed necessary. Such progressive and empathetic policies not only cater to a niche of pet-loving travelers but also set a gold standard in hospitality, proving that luxury and compassion can seamlessly blend.

As word of the hotel’s charitable gesture spread online, waves of admiration flowed in. From commendations like “Big love” to potential patrons expressing their intent to choose the hotel in the future, it was evident that kindness resonates universally. One user encapsulated the sentiment perfectly, stating, “It’s rare to see such pet-loving hotels. How wonderful!” The hotel’s act of benevolence effectively bridges the gap between lavish hospitality and genuine compassion.

Such animal-loving tales aren’t uncommon in China. Earlier this year, a kind-hearted woman from eastern China garnered appreciation for setting up a makeshift “canteen” for 17 stray cats, generously spending around 2,000 yuan (about US$270) monthly on their sustenance. Another heartwarming incident from the previous year showed a woman in southern China, ensuring her elderly Samoyed dog reached home by strapping it to her back and ascending multiple flights of stairs.
