This adventure, following their viral “wheelchair wedding” in Ningbo, Zhejiang province three years earlier, continues to inspire and motivate people across the globe.

Zhu’s life dramatically changed in 2009 when, at the age of 20, he was paralyzed due to acute myelitis. Around the same time, Fan faced a similar fate when a vascular tumor rupture left her with spinal damage. Despite these challenges, the pair’s paths crossed through a mutual friend, leading to a bond forged in resilience and mutual understanding.

Their relationship blossomed with shared dreams and aspirations. Zhu, moved by Fan’s desire to explore the outdoors, used his adapted car to take her on her first outdoor excursion since her disability. This marked the start of numerous expeditions and challenges that the couple would undertake together, exploring various parts of China and defying the limitations set by their physical conditions.

The duo has not only traveled extensively but also taken up wheelchair dancing, an activity that has brought them both recognition and personal fulfillment. They have participated in and won multiple awards, using the stage to showcase their courage and passion for life. Fan shares, “Dancing has given me greater confidence. We remain positive, active, and passionate about life.”

Their story, shared widely on social media, has become a source of inspiration for many, especially individuals with disabilities. Zhu and Fan actively share their experiences, aiming to empower others to see beyond their limitations and embrace life’s possibilities.
