Breaking Bad House Hits Market for Nearly $4 Million

LifestyleBreaking Bad House Hits Market for Nearly $4 Million

The Albuquerque house made famous by the hit TV series Breaking Bad is up for sale. Once a quiet, unassuming home in one of the city’s older neighborhoods, its role in the series has transformed it into a landmark of pop culture. The owners, hoping to capitalize on the home’s fame, have listed it for just under $4 million, far above its estimated market value of $340,000.

The house, featured prominently as Walter White’s residence in the series, has been a magnet for fans since the show’s debut. Joanne Quintana, whose parents purchased the home in 1973, says the family faced challenges protecting the property as its popularity soared. A metal fence and security cameras were eventually installed to deter overzealous visitors.

“This was our family home for nearly 52 years,” Quintana shared. “It’s time to move on. We’re done fighting.”

The connection to Breaking Bad began in 2006 when a film scout approached Quintana’s mother about using the house for the pilot episode. The family witnessed the production process, meeting the cast and crew, including Bryan Cranston, who portrayed Walter White. Quintana’s mother became known for baking cookies for the team, while the home served as a staging area during filming.

One memorable moment from the series is the infamous pizza-throwing scene, where Cranston’s character hurls a pizza onto the roof. Quintana recalls the sidewalk lined with boxes of unsliced cheese and pepperoni pizzas, ready for multiple takes. Cranston, however, nailed the scene on the first try.

The home has faced its share of quirky fan antics, from unauthorized pizza tosses to attempted dips in the backyard pool. Despite the challenges, its connection to the show remains a significant selling point.

David Christensen with eXp Luxury, the listing agent, noted strong interest in the property, with ideas ranging from turning it into a holiday rental to a museum. A dedicated website has been created to market the home, showcasing it as an opportunity to own a piece of television history.

With the Albuquerque housing market seeing median home prices nearing $400,000, the Breaking Bad house is a standout listing. Its legacy ensures it remains a draw for fans and investors alike.
