A doctor in central China has stunned many by losing 25kg in just 42 days before claiming multiple titles in a bodybuilding competition. Wu Tiangen, 31, was the only doctor to compete in the Tianrui Cup Fitness and Bodybuilding Match in Guangdong province this January. Standing at 182cm and weighing 73.5kg, Wu secured championships in the newcomer and fit models categories, as well as the most popular participant award.

A surgeon at Zhongnan Hospital of Wuhan University, Wu specializes in treating obesity, often performing weight-loss surgeries. However, his own lifestyle had led to health concerns, including a diagnosis of mild fatty liver disease in 2023 when he reached 97.5kg. Determined to improve his well-being, Wu devised an intensive plan to lose fat and build muscle. His routine involved two hours of daily exercise, six hours of sleep, and a disciplined schedule that began with an hour of aerobic training at 5:30 a.m. before work, followed by another hour after work. Prior to competitions, he increased his workouts to four hours per day.

Under the guidance of his coach, Shi Fan—winner of the Overall Fit Model title at the IFBB World Fit Model Championships in Lithuania—Wu trained with an intensity surpassing many professional athletes. His commitment and discipline transformed him from an overweight individual to a bodybuilding champion, setting an example for his patients.

Wu has successfully helped around 100 people lose weight and advocates for a sustainable, healthy lifestyle that includes adequate sleep, a balanced diet, regular exercise, and a stress-free mindset. He discourages extreme weight-loss methods, emphasizing long-term fitness goals instead.

His remarkable journey not only highlights personal determination but also serves as motivation for others striving to improve their health. Wu believes that leading by example enhances trust and adherence to scientific weight-loss methods, proving that sustainable fitness is achievable with the right mindset and commitment.
