Keanu Reeves has channeled his love for motorcycles into Visionaries, a docuseries that explores creativity across various disciplines. Alongside his business partner Gard Hollinger, Reeves embarks on a journey to meet talented individuals whose inventive minds help shape the perfect motorcycle. The series, distributed by Roku, premieres on The Roku Channel on March 7.
Reeves and Hollinger co-founded ARCH Motorcycles in 2011, based in Hawthorne, California. Through Visionaries, they connect with designers, engineers, and artists, delving into the creative process behind groundbreaking innovations. Among the many fascinating individuals featured is a young inventor who built a space rocket using a giant 3D printer, a meeting Reeves described as an “extraordinary opportunity.”
The actor hopes the series will inspire audiences by showcasing the power of creativity and perseverance. “We really hoped to inspire people with creativity and what are the potentials? And really championing creativity and creating, you know, championing people to create and to get over obstacles and to, you know, to realize dreams,” Reeves shared.
One of the most remarkable encounters for Reeves was with James Turrell, a renowned light artist who transformed a volcanic crater in Arizona into a naked-eye observatory for stargazing. The project left a lasting impression on Reeves, who marveled at the concept of shaping a dormant crater into a space for artistic and scientific exploration. “I’ve thought about the skies and telescopes and the constellations, but someone to kind of create situations and mold a dormant crater… that to me with James Turrell was certainly remarkable,” he said.
Beyond motorcycles and space exploration, the series highlights various art forms and inventions, revealing the dedication and passion behind each endeavor. Reeves, known for his roles in The Matrix and John Wick films, found the experience of hosting and engaging with artists deeply fulfilling. “I love meeting folks and I love being able to speak. I love being able to talk to someone about their passion and their art and their craft,” he noted.
The docuseries fosters an intimate and insightful dialogue about the creative journey, offering audiences a rare glimpse into the minds of visionaries. With its mix of innovation, artistic passion, and compelling storytelling, Visionaries promises to be a thought-provoking experience for viewers.
