Taylor Fresh Foods, the parent company of Taylor Farms, is voluntarily recalling a range of products containing jalapeños across 26 states over concerns of possible salmonella contamination linked to a supplier in Mexico.
The affected items include salsas, guacamole and pimento cheese dips distributed to major retailers such as Kroger, Stop & Shop, Target, Whole Foods, Trader Joe’s and Walmart. All recalled products carry a “Best If Used By” date up to and including August 16, 2026.
The recall was triggered after Coast Citrus Distributors, one of Taylor Farms’ suppliers, announced its own voluntary recall of fresh jalapeños over potential salmonella contamination. A grower in Sinaloa, Mexico, was identified as the possible source of the outbreak.
The U.S. Food and Drug Administration and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention are working with state and local partners to investigate a multistate outbreak of salmonella infections tied to the affected jalapeños.
Taylor Fresh Foods said it has stopped sourcing products from the grower and is now filling orders through alternative suppliers. The company stated it is not aware of any reported illnesses linked to its own jalapeño-containing products.
The action follows a series of food safety incidents involving the company. Just weeks earlier, Taylor Farms pulled salsa and guacamole products over a similar contamination risk, and separately recalled iceberg lettuce sourced from central Mexico over a potential link to a multistate cyclospora outbreak.
Salmonella infection can cause fever, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting and abdominal cramps. While most healthy individuals recover without treatment, the illness can pose serious risks to young children, older adults and people with weakened immune systems.
Consumers who have purchased any recalled product are advised to discard it immediately rather than consume it. Refunds are available at the location of purchase, and the company has set up a customer helpline for questions.
The broader outbreak has rippled across the U.S. food industry in recent months, with jalapeños from the same Mexican supply chain prompting recalls and precautionary measures at several companies. Investigators are continuing to trace the full scope of affected products as the outbreak develops.
