This significant gathering aimed to generate funds for charitable organizations dedicated to enhancing the mental health and well-being of young people throughout Hong Kong and the surrounding regions.

Among the celebrated sports personalities in attendance were Ruud Gullit, a distinguished former football player from the Netherlands, and Sean Fitzpatrick, the ex-captain of New Zealand’s rugby team, the All Blacks. They were joined by Hong Kong’s own sports talents, Taichi Kho and Stephanie Ho, adding local flair to this international assembly.

The Laureus Sport for Good program, known for its commitment to harnessing the power of sports for social change, works closely with ten organizations in Hong Kong. One of these initiatives is the Model City project, which specifically focuses on using sports as a tool to bolster mental health and overall well-being among the youth in the area.

The event on Tuesday was not just a showcase of golfing skills but also a platform for raising awareness and funds for these vital causes. Sponsored by IWC Schaffhausen, a luxury watchmaker, the event included a gala dinner and a silent auction. The efforts of all involved culminated in an impressive sum of over HK$1.2 million, all of which will directly support local mental health initiatives.

Sean Fitzpatrick, who holds the position of chairman for the Laureus Sport for Good, expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming support the event received. He highlighted the significance of the funds raised, emphasizing their crucial role in addressing the mental health and well-being challenges faced by the youth in Hong Kong.
