Changan Launches Presales of Yida Sedan to Compete in China’s Compact Car Market

BusinessAutomotiveChangan Launches Presales of Yida Sedan to Compete in China's Compact Car Market

Chinese automaker Changan has announced the presales of its latest sedan, Yida, in a bid to increase its share of the highly competitive compact family sedan market. The company stated that it will officially launch the sporty model, available in three variants, in March.

Yida is 4,770 mm in length, 1,840 mm in width, and 1,440 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 2,765 mm. To offer a comparison, it is 2 mm longer and 36 mm wider than Volkswagen’s popular Lavida sedan, the best-selling compact sedan in China in January. Its wheelbase is also 77 mm longer than Lavida, which ensures more space for both drivers and passengers.

The model is powered by an NT 1.5-liter turbocharged engine and a seven-speed transmission that generates a top torque of 260 Nm. Yida also features a minimalistic interior design, with a sporty steering wheel, a large 13.2-inch display, a 10.25-inch panel, Level 2 driving-assist features, a parking radar sensor system, and a 360-degree camera system.

China’s compact sedan market is dominated by international brands, including Lavida, Volkswagen’s Bora and Sagitar, as well as Toyota’s Levin and Corolla. However, Changan’s UNI-V sedan was one of the top 10 sedans in January, and the company is hoping to further increase its market share with the launch of Yida.

By entering the compact sedan market, Changan is aiming to tap into the high demand for affordable and practical vehicles in China, which has become one of the world’s largest automotive markets. The presale of Yida is part of the company’s strategy to increase its market share by offering high-quality vehicles with advanced features at competitive prices.

With the launch of Yida, Changan is hoping to offer a viable alternative to foreign-made compact sedans, which are currently dominating the market. The success of Yida will depend on how well it can compete against the established brands in terms of performance, features, and price.
