China and Europe have immense potential for green cooperation, thanks to the compatibility of their green development concepts, according to a senior official. Shao Ning, former vice-director of the Financial and Economic Committee of the National People’s Congress, said that the establishment of a green cooperation partnership between the two sides has become a driving force in advancing China-EU cooperation. Speaking during the opening ceremony of the first Sino-European Green and Innovative Development Conference, Shao said that China and the European Union have always been important economic and trade partners of each other, and have many small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with strong development vitality and active innovation, which are important in green technology innovation. To achieve green innovation and development, government departments, enterprises, associations, and service institutions need to make collaborative efforts and work together, Shao said. Green energy is also a new and important area for cooperation between China and Europe, said Shao, as the relevant industries of China and the EU have complementary advantages. Chen Anming, Party secretary of Jiangmen, said that the city has extensive connections and close cooperation with European countries and that Jiangmen would actively strengthen cooperation with European countries in green technology and deepen the integration of green industries.
