China Mobile, one of China’s largest telecom companies, has announced plans to accelerate the development of its cloud computing business. Over the past three years, the company has invested nearly 90 billion yuan ($13 billion) in cloud infrastructure construction. According to Yang Jie, the Chairman of China Mobile, cloud computing has become a crucial driving force for the digital economy and digital productivity, promoting social progress.

To achieve its goal, the company will focus on deepening technology co-research, creating a cloud technology innovation industry ecosystem, establishing joint laboratories, and building communities for developers. China Mobile aims to develop more than 10,000 channel partners and over 2,000 industry solution partners in the next three years. The company plans to offer full-process services such as cloud consulting, planning, delivery, operation, and maintenance.

Last year, China Mobile‘s cloud computing revenue exceeded 50 billion yuan, marking a 25-fold increase compared to three years ago. In 2022, the company’s revenue from digital transformation reached 207.6 billion yuan, with year-on-year growth of more than 30 percent. This growth has made it the main engine driving revenue increases for the company. With China’s increasing emphasis on digital infrastructure, China Mobile’s focus on developing its cloud computing business is in line with the country’s broader economic goals.
