The acclaimed indie comedy “Everyone Is Doing Great,” co-created by and starring James Lafferty and Stephen Colletti, is set to captivate a global audience. Netflix has secured exclusive worldwide rights to the first two seasons through a licensing agreement with Sony Pictures Television. This move marks the highly anticipated global premiere of the show’s second season, bringing the series to a much wider platform.
Netflix has officially picked up the exclusive global rights for the first two seasons of “Everyone Is Doing Great.” This significant deal with Sony Pictures Television will make both seasons available for streaming on the platform beginning May 11. The move is a major step for the independent series, which previously aired its first season on Hulu in 2021 after being independently filmed.
Paul Littmann, EVP of Global Distribution at Sony Pictures Television, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, stating, “What James and Stephen have created with ‘Everyone Is Doing Great’ captures what makes great indie television so compelling – it’s raw, authentic, hilarious, and full of heart. Netflix is the ideal platform to bring this incredibly special show to audiences worldwide.”
“Everyone Is Doing Great” centers on former television costars, friends, and sometimes lovers Seth (Colletti), Jeremy (Lafferty), Andrea (Alexandra Park), and Izzy (Cariba Heine). The series delves into their lives as they are drawn back together to confront the absurdities and uncertainties of adulthood. The first season concluded with a cliffhanger, as Jeremy was caught by an undercover cop using drugs, setting the stage for new dramatic and comedic developments in the upcoming season.
Season 2 of “Everyone Is Doing Great” promises to build on the foundation of its predecessor, with Lafferty and Colletti returning in their lead roles. Alexandra Park and Cariba Heine also reprise their roles. The new season will feature an impressive lineup of guest stars, including Jamie Chung, Phoenix Washington, Bryan Greenberg, Jessica McNamee, Robbie Jones, Merritt Patterson, Aaron Staton, Nichelle Hines, and Rhys Wakefield. Lafferty and Colletti also serve as executive producers on the series, alongside a team including Ian Nelms, Eshom Nelms, Michelle Lang, and others.
Co-creator Stephen Colletti shared his excitement about the Netflix deal, describing it as a “game changer.” He highlighted the independent nature of filming Season 2 and the challenges faced in getting independent content seen. The partnership with Sony and the subsequent global reach through Netflix represent a dream come true for the creators, allowing their passion project to connect with a worldwide audience. The deal is part of a larger, multiyear global Pay-1 licensing agreement between Netflix and Sony Pictures Entertainment.
