Power Our Planet: Live in Paris – Concert for Climate Action

Global Citizen, a non-profit organization, orchestrated the “Power Our Planet: Live in Paris” concert on Thursday, featuring renowned singers Billie Eilish and Lenny Kravitz, as well as politicians, activists, and climate leaders. The event aimed to raise awareness about climate change and inequality while world leaders convened at the Summit for a New Global Financing Pact.

With the iconic Eiffel Tower as a backdrop, the concert gathered an array of influential voices who delivered powerful speeches and captivating musical performances. Climate activists and leaders from countries such as Brazil, Kenya, Barbados, and representatives from the World Bank took the stage alongside celebrities like Oscar winner Michelle Yeoh.

Billie Eilish, known for her environmental advocacy, emphasized the urgency of the moment, calling for a systemic change to address the climate crisis. She highlighted the importance of ensuring that those most affected by climate change receive the necessary support to combat it. Lenny Kravitz echoed this sentiment, urging the crowd to be part of the solution rather than the problem.

The concert took place against the backdrop of the Summit for a New Global Financing Pact, where around 40 world leaders gathered to discuss and advance a new global finance agenda. This initiative seeks to provide increased financial assistance to low-income countries in times of crisis, alleviate their debt burdens, reform financial systems, and mobilize funds to tackle climate change.

The efforts to address the global financial landscape were evident throughout the day. The World Bank announced its commitment to provide easier financing for nations affected by natural disasters, while the International Monetary Fund achieved its goal of making $100 billion available for vulnerable countries.

In addition to the musical performances by Jon Batiste, H.E.R., and others, speeches by actors Diane Kruger and Connie Britton further amplified the message of unity and the need for collective action.
