Amidst the ongoing conflict, Ukraine is pressing forward with an ambitious new holiday resort in the western Carpathian Mountains. The project, located near the village of Volosyanka in the Lviv region, will feature 25 hotels, over 5,000 rooms, and a state-of-the-art ski area spanning 127 hectares, complete with lifts and a variety of pistes.
The Carpathian Mountains, reaching up to 1,200 meters in this region, provide an ideal setting for year-round tourism. While the war continues to impact parts of the country, the Carpathian area has remained relatively untouched by Russian missile or drone attacks. Positioned close to the Polish border, the development aims to create a safe and luxurious escape for both domestic and international visitors.
The project, backed by Austrian specialists, is estimated to cost more than $1.45 billion. Developers are moving forward despite the challenges, believing in the long-term vision of revitalizing Ukraine’s tourism industry. Vaysl Danylyak, head of Okko Group, emphasized the importance of the resort’s construction, calling it a strategically significant step in developing a world-class international holiday destination.

With the first hotel complex already under development, the resort is expected to provide a significant boost to the local economy by creating jobs and attracting tourists.
